Our History

Parkway Baptist Church was originally founded in the early 1900's by the name of First Freewill Baptist Church. That church was located on Whatley Street. Through the years additions and improvements were made and the church continued to grow. Around 2000 the current pastor began to feel God moving the church to a new location and name. They began a building project and the church body moved into their new building located on Tom J. Hitch Parkway in June of 2002. Along with a new building came a new name, Parkway Baptist Church. Parkway Baptist church is not associated with a denomination but practices Baptist doctrine: Eternal security, baptism by immersion, observing communion. If you would like more information on our beliefs and doctrine, please call the pastor, Brother Mike Roberts. He will be glad to meet with you and discuss why we believe what we do based on the Bible.

Brother Mike has lead this congregation since the mid 1970's when the then pastor Wallace Paul passed away suddenly. The young Brother Mike and his wonderful wife Brenda, along with their 2 young children took on the daunting responsibility of pastoring a congregation. Brother Mike has successfully led this church body through many phases throughout the years. The church is flourishing under his leadership.
